The second home market made up 33% of all home sales in the
US in 2007 according to THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS ®. This may be
a great time to buy a second home.
According to a recent study, leisure activities of interest to vacation-home owners include:
- Beach, lake or water sports - 57 percent
- Boating - 38 percent
- Hunting or fishing - 32 percent
- Golf - 21 percent
- Biking, hiking or horseback riding - 20 percent
- Ski or winter recreation - 17 percent
- Tennis - 9 percent.
Half of vacation homes are located in resort or recreational areas, 18 percent in small towns and 16 percent in rural areas.
